Challenge

SRC Painting & Decorating were given the task of renovating the old town hall in Rotherham to give it a new look and feel that would attract more members of the public to the town. We were delighted to be given the opportunity to work on such a large project in our local town and couldn’t wait to get to work and use our skills and expertise to give the old town hall a complete overhaul. Before we started the restoration, there were some health and safety precautions we needed to prepare for as this was a busy area where members of the public were constantly walking past so we wouldn’t want to put them at risk in any way whilst carrying out our services.

Solution

As the safety of the public was vital for this project we aimed to complete most of the work out-of-hours to reduce risk, and also considered the materials we were using in order to keep the area safe for passers by. We used a dustless sanding unit before applying any paint, a scissor lift for hard-to-reach places so we weren’t obstructing any pathways, and after paint was applied we used a quick-dry water based satin finish as people would be walking past quite often. Whilst carrying out the renovation we followed our strict processes to ensure we did the job efficiently and to a high standard, including rubbing all woodwork down before any paint was applied, using stain block paint for the dark stain effect on the woodwork, and carefully selecting suitable colours of paint that would compliment the town.

The Benefit

Our hard-working team completed an outstanding job on the project which resulted in great feedback from everyone. We were thrilled with the end result and look forward to completing similar projects in the future.

Challenge

This was a job we have completed in Bakewell for Taylor & Emmet LLP Solicitors, it was an office space that hadn’t been decorated in a very long time. Because of this the paintwork was old and flaking away, we therefore had a lot of preparation work ahead of us before we could begin painting the room.

Solution

we had to sheet up the work area and firstly scrape away all the lose flaking paint, we then used our dustless sander and extractor to sand all the surfaces down. Having sanded the surface we then filled all indentations with wood filler and caulked up around the edges, once dried we rubbed the filler down. Once preparation was complete we applied 1 under coat and 2 coats of gloss to finish.

Benefit

This office has a new lease of life and now makes a pristine, enjoyable working environment for all employees of Taylor & Emmet LLP Solicitors.
